Market & Cooking Experience

The experience of the blog tour in Florence found us in the company of Georgette, better known on social media as Girl in Florence. Her blog gives realistic and fascinating  insight into the life of an American in Florence. The special tour organized for Georgette made her the protagonist of an all-round cooking experience. Her day began by meeting the outgoing Manuela, who guided us through the discovery of the flavors of Italian cuisine. Our first stop was at the Mercato Cittadino (city market), where, like a true guide, Manuela delighted us with stories about the history of this place while pointing out the culinary products and their particularities. After choosing the ingredients for lunch we went to an exceptional location: our guide’s home, in the heart of the historic center of Florence. The view from the terrace left us speechless, with the whole city laid out before us. This is only one of the unforgettable experiences that we at Dragonfly Tours organize to surprise you and let you enjoy the best that Florence has to offer.

Manuela taught Georgette to prepare a number of tasty dishes including the Florentine gnudi and a fresh summer panzanella. Between  snapshots and a few posts on Instagram, it was time for a well-deserved lunch, obviously with a nice glass of wine!

On Board a Fiat 500 in the Chianti Area

But the exclusive experiences realized in Florence do not end there. We introduced Lisa, the blogger of This Tuscan Life, to the beauty of Chianti in a very special way. What is one of the most beloved symbols of Italy? The Fiat 500! And why not combine the beauty of a trip to Chianti with a ride in a Fiat 500? Our tour started at Castellina in Chianti and continued through the gentle Tuscan hills with their bright summer colors.

A wine tasting here was mandatory! Lisa tasted some incredible wines while admiring one of the most beautiful landscapes in Italy. Our last stop led us to discover the town of Monteriggioni and its splendid piazza. A little jewel made even more precious by the light of the sunset. Are you curious to discover the most exclusive locations in the heart of  Tuscany? Book a personalized tour with Dragonfly Tours to go straight to the essence of Italian culture and tradition.

Market & Cooking Experience in Rome

Rome, the Eternal City. An incredible place that needs no introduction. We invited Livia and Isobel to take part in two truly unique custom made tours. The day with Livia began at the Mercato dei Parioli, where Livia, accompanied by Valeria and Valentina, went in search of the first fruits of the market and then to Valeria’s splendid home to start the cooking class.

But not before sipping an aperitif! We started by making fresh tagliatelle pasta. Curious to find out how to make fresh pasta from scratch? Then join us and learn all the secrets of Italian cuisine. Valeria and Valentina explained the simple and tasty recipe for almond pesto while they made it together with Livia.

After the first course, a traditional recipe of Rome was on the menu:  Roman artichokes. Don’t miss the reports on Livia’s blog to see all the steps in the recipe!

Our cooking classes take you to the heart of the city: our exceptional guides open the doors of their homes to you to share the experience and emotions that only cooking and eating together can offer.

But it’s not only about cooking: Isobel (author of the blog testaccina.com) was taken on a tour to discover the beauty of the center of Rome … on a Vespa!  From Piazza della Repubblica  towards the historic city center. On the way,  our guide told us “on the go” curiosities and anecdotes about monuments and Roman history. The setting for the perfect snapshot? The Trevi Fountain. From Fontana di Trevi our sidecar tour took us to the splendid park of Villa Borghese: here a visit to the panoramic terrace of the Pincio is a must! The characteristic Trastevere district with its iconic alleyways and its timeless beauty could not be missing from the itinerary either. The tour ended with gelato, a tasty treat on a hot afternoon in Rome!
